Default Cingular BB won't receive unless email sent - 12-14-2006, 08:41 AM

Greetings:

My Cingular 8700c is set up on a BES with the BB UNL Add on plan, but it won't receive messages from the BES unless I send an email from the BB. At that time, it will sync with the BES and show all the messages I should have been receiving all along. I have to keep sending messages every now and then to get the messages to download.

My system administrators don't see any error messages in the BES log and Cingular says the rate plan is right, so I don't know what the deal is. Any ideas?

Much appreciated!

Stu

Have you tried looking at the status window in BB desktop (4.2) to see if the messages are pending to device or if they say sent? It could be that your BB "drops" of the BES server and when you send an email it re-establishes the connection and a reconcilation occurs. Not sure why it would do this except if you are in an area where the data network quality is poor. Does this problem occur irrespective of your location?

Yes, it occurs no matter where I go. I've already wiped and reinstalled the BB OS so I'm stumped.

Sounds like a clumping issue. Do PIN messages get delayed as well in this manner? If so, you may need to contact your carrier to get this investigated. (and possibly escalated to RIM to get some network things checked.)
