JL_Cmder only takes about 30 seconds to run. If it won't work then just find a windows XP machine to run it on. Then connect it to your Vista or 64 bit machine. You need JL_Cmder or javaloader to wipe the device.

Default Device Wipe (everything back to factory) - 03-27-2007, 08:26 PM

Will java loader truly set device back to factory. There won't be ANY email remnants in the OS? Trying to determine which wipe process will truly wipe the OS, or do file remnants still exsist?

Default Want to wipe device but can't connect - 03-30-2007, 10:08 AM

Hi All,

Can anyone help. I have an 8700 that just keeps rebooting, showing the timer and then shutting down again continually. I have seen this listed elsewhere on these forums and the advice is always to wipe the device and reinstall the OS. I have followed the good advice in this thread but when I try to use jl_cmder to wipe the device it won't connect. I ahev tried using javaloader as well but same error. I am stuck at this point. Does anybody have any advice?

I had installed 4.2 OS and wanted to downgrade back to 4.1 OS due to the keylock bug in 4.2 OS I had. I followed the instructions but when I plugged my Blackberry to the computer as instructed nothing would happen. It did not prompt me to install the older OS. After many uninstalls and reinstalls by repeating the step I found out that I needed to load Application Loader in the Blackberry Desktop Manager in order to begin the install for the older OS.

I had to load Application Loader and then click on the instruction on loading the older OS (I forgot the exact wording.) I hope this helps other people in the same situation.

Correct. You aren't promted to "downgrade" as you are to upgrade.

3. Delete the file "vendor.xml" located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.

4. On your PC, install JL_CMDER, located here: (BlackBerryForums.com : Your Number One BlackBerry Community) Connect the device and use iJL_CMDER to wipe the device. Be sure that Desktop Manager isn't running when using JL_CMDER. When finished your device should display a 507 error.

5. Open Desktop Manager and run Application Loader. The Desktop Manager should then detect the device and load the new OS.

That should give you a clean, out-of-the-box device.
Hi John,

I had an app errror 205 so i did everything as you described above. I have error 507. When i run the Aplication Apploader, it opens Aplication Loader Wizard and there is this message:

The BB Desktop Software does not have BB Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service or system administrator.

The screen on my BB shows the picture of the PC and the phone with 2 arrows in between that are not moving.

What should i do? where is the problem?

Thanx Barbora

Ok, i have BB Pearl 8100 and that is what i downloaded. i tried it with the newest desktop manager version and when it didn't work, i uninstalled it and tried the old version from the cd that came with the phone. the result is the same. now i have the new desktop manager again, but it isn't working.

I also tried to go to t-mobile, they sent me home to try to figure it out by myself. So i tried, it didn't work, so i called them. Talked to one girl, she didn't know anything, kept me on hold, then finally transfered. So i talked to another girl who couldn't help me, waited on hold, at the end was transfered again to an automatic system where non of the options offered applied to me so i tried one of them but was on hold so after 1/2 hour i hung up and now i am trying this forum.

Barbora,
There are two pieces of software required in order to get an OS back on your phone. Error 507 is good. That means the device is ready to have an OS loaded to it.

Install the newest version of the Desktop Manager.

Then go to TMobile.com and download the Handheld OS package and install that to your PC. This is 'in addition' to the Desktop Manager.

Once both are installed to your computer simply plug in the BB, open Desktop Manager and run Application Loader. It will detect your device and load the OS to the device.

Good luck.

~John
