Default A 8700G from T-mob, very unstable data reception - 01-09-2007, 05:27 AM

Hi All,

I have a 8700g from T-Mobile.
I only use it for data (Voice is disabled by our company's BES policy)

After a few days use on it I realize.
The reception on this device is .... very weak?!

I have along side a Sony Ericsson M600i and it is able to get GPRS data, email etc.
While on the other hand the 8700g, just placed next to M600i never able to make a constant data transmission.
(It does make transmission sometimes, but only last for 3 or 4 seconds and if I launch browser at that moment the connection status simply change to "Searching for network....")

Also, I can go on line with M600i when I am on the move (in a car)
But the 8700g just keeps on switching carrier?!
(If I appoint the 8700g to use the same carrier to my M600i, it simply shows "Searching for network..."

I have tried to clean the SIM card but this don't seem to help.

I wonder if it is the same to other 8700 users as well?

Please advice

Thanks in advance
Brian

I also have the 8700g with T-mo. I've not had any problems at all. I wonder if you have EDGE in your area. Sounds like to me that you have a coverage problem.

You might want to check if the OS is up to date. It might make a difference.
