Default NEW TO BB - beeps im confused! - 01-14-2007, 08:06 PM

Hi just got a T-Mobile BlackBerry 8700G today and have a few questions hoping someone can help!

Everytime I click something with the wheel it makes a loud beep and it gets extremley annoying where in the phones menu's would I go to shut this off I've tried for like 15 minutes and can't find it even if I shut the phones volume completley off it still beeps!

Also I see the phone comes with a bunch of notifications and built in ringtones is there a way to send myself ringtones so I can pick whatever I want MP3 tones or whatever..

There are some websites that have free MP3 ringtones, such as www.tuneusin.com and you can do a search here on the forum as well for ringtones. I am not sure why you 8700g makes that beeping sound. I've NEVER experienced that with my 8700g.

Did you purchase this phone brand new? Has the phone been dropped? Did you install an app that may have caused the beep?

If it's like that, then take it back to the T-Mobile store and return it for another 8700g.

Go to Options>screen keyboard>key tone=off If it's on try turning it off to see what happens.

Your key tones are on, as dkf747 says.

genius. thank you.

im seriously new to this phone i feel so dumb haha im not stupid I swear ask me something about iPods and macs im fine but this phone is just really confusing at first I'm sure after awhile it becomes second nature using it but at first the menu/selection functions are kind of tricky. is there anyway to speed up the jog wheel it takes quite awhile to get to the bottom of the address back and applications list etc.
