Default Strange Coverage Problem - 01-19-2007, 10:44 AM

Hi all, from yesterday my BB 8700g is suffering strange coverage problems. The signal status started to display GSM instead of GPRS or EDGE. When I turn off and on the radio the data radio come back, but after some time (from seconds to minutes, very erratic) the data coverage is lost. I'm in residential area, so lack of coverage is very unlikely.

I wiped the BB with no luck. Any ideas?

Best,
Jaime

Have you checked with your carrier to make sure that there isn't a data outage or tower issues in your area?

Jaime - sorry to heard that you are having the same problem as I do. This just started happening last Friday when I got a replacement 8700G from Crapular.

I've not figure out what the problem is. It's not a network problem that's causing this issue. My other phones can get connected to the network, but my 8700G can't.

I did a master reset and it worked for a while - until when I tried to restore my back-up profile, then the indicator got stuck on GSM again.

If you've figured this out - please let me know.

Thanks,

W.

I'm having the same problem with my pearl, directly after I have connected it to my PC. It is not a data outage as other phones with the same carrier (TIM in Italy) right beside mine have full EDGE/GPRS.

Any solution?

The signal has nothing to do here. Te problem seems to be that GRPR is dropped due to network issues. You can still have GSM coverage, like me.

Best,
Jaime

Thanks!

However with only GSM I get no email push or internet access.
Strange that blackberries with the same network in the same room as me have no problems with their GPRS/EDGE.

One of my users had this recently - he received a warranty replacement as the device had worked fine for a few months.

BBs through my history: 957(8MB), 7280, 7290, 8700c
BB Now: 8820
