No, ALL 8700g do NOT have PTT.

That really depends on the OS load but it's pretty irrelevant if your carrier/network doesn't support it.

i did the optus 4.2 upgrade but when i go into the loader files, i do not see anything for push to talk. i have the option for push to talk but when i try to launch it, it just says please wait for it to initialize. nothing happens after. how can i fix this? can you send me "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.2.1.85_P2.3.0.67"? will that work if i just load the app?

yes. i have cingular and i have ptt. i have 3 other coworkers who have done the upgrade to 4.2 and it works fine. just my ptt doesnt work. my mini opera doesnt work either. even after i changed my tcp settings

Ditto, and I am using a 8700C in China. I can't work out PTT but the voicenotes do work.
