Default When's the REAL v4.2 coming out? - 04-23-2007, 12:32 PM

Why all the half-assed 4.2s? I'm running the Chinese version now... it still is quirky -- Opera won't run and Ramble doesn't like to log on. When is T-Mobile releasing the official 4.2 update for the 8700g? Anybody have an idea? I want to be able to use MyFaves on my 8700g!!!

Unfortunately those are "real" versions. You'll have to wait it out for the upgrades. No word on when those may come out.

All versions are written by RIM, and tested and released by the various carriers.

You may NEVER see a version from your particular carrier.

I believe it work the other way, rim release the software/OS and Opera ,Ramble and all 3rd party software have to comply and update.

thats most likely true, but NJ was talking about carriers not 3rd party apps - RIM writes the OS and then tmo, verizon, etc goes through, for lack of a better definition, a validation process.

I like that the fact that we BB users get the chance to run these OS onto our BBs.. phone carriers lack /limit their phones capabilities and luckily us users find an OS to explore what our BBs are capable in doing..

4.2 is 4.2. They're all "real". If the app doesn't work with it then the app needs to be updated by the company responsible for the app. It's like any other platform. When Windows updates application compatibility is the responsibility of the app author -- not the author of the OS.
