Default Problem with Caller ID - 04-26-2007, 09:58 AM

The caller identification is not working on my Blackberry. I have the Service and a few calls come in with the user name, but 95% of calls received from people in my BB address book are not identified with the caller's name when the call comes in, only the number is displayed. BUT, when I review my call log the names are listed. I have tried all things like with and without area code, country code, etc but nothing helps.

How is your smart dialing set (Phone > options > Smart Dialing?

What country are you in? Enter your Country code there.

I have the same problem and have found everything mentioned in the above message to be correct.

You may need to do a soft rest by rwmoving the battery.

When content protection is on, and your phone locks it wont show the callers name. So if you want to have them show you have to remove content protection. You can still lock your phone. Don't know your situation so maybe your not allowed to remove it do to work or what have you. This is fixed in version 4.2, you can have content protection on and exempt the phone book.

You can leave content protection on and set "include address book" to "No" and accomplish the same thing. Many times IT policy requires content protection but will allow the address book to be excluded. If so, setting it to No will allow the caller id to work.

Thank you all for your answers. I confirm it is due to the locked BB together with "Content Protection" Enabled.
I'm working with version 4.1 and tried to upgrade but wasn't succesvol. (suppose due to limited access rights)
Where can I find the option "include address book" on a v4.1 ?

Ah, so it is. I've had the Pearl so long I forgot it wasn't there in the older models.

Upgrade your 8700 to 4.2 that is in the sticky post at the top of this forum and hopefully you'll gain that option.
