Default Question of 8703e by Sprint - 05-17-2007, 08:30 AM

I just got my new BB 8703e from Sprint. I have a few questions:

1) How do you delete an application that you download? I downloaded and installed BB Maps and its useless for me. I want to delete it but I can't figure out how. I've gone to Options:Advanced Options:Applications but its not listed there, which is where I would assume you would find it to delete it.

2) Is there anyway to remove unused Icons from the "desktop" (is that what its called) without removing the program. For example, when my company activated enterprise, it added a second web browser icon to the "desktop". This one has a "lock" icon over the globe, but for the life of me I can't figure out how it differs from the one that doesn't have the lock on it (if anyone has any ideas there, I'd appreciate that too).

3) Are there any good voice dial programs out there? I tried Nuance Voice Control but it didn't work at all. I know Sprint has there own paid service but I'm not inclined to give Sprint any more of my money than I already am. Plus that one requires you to "record" your entries over the phone, something I can't be bothered to do. I see that the 8800 has voicesignal built in, which I had on my old Samsung phone and it was fantastic!! Anyone have any insights..??

Thanks in advance for your help.

1) Desktop Manager is the way to go.

2) Hi-lite the offending icon, hold down ALT and push in the trackwheel. Choose Hide Application

3)Unfortunately I can't help you here.

BBs through my history: 957(8MB), 7280, 7290, 8700c

Default Desktop Manager? - 05-17-2007, 08:41 AM

Through my PC? Unfortunately, my BB shipped with version 4.1 and its not Vista Compatible. I downloaded 4.2 but I can't seem to get it to install (I double click on the install Icon and nothing happens.

Typically, the way you went about uninstalling in step 1 will work. Some applications are weird like that (BB Maps is a great example). You have to remove the modules associated with it to completely remove it.

I responded in your other thread on how to remove BB Maps.

When in doubt, empty the magazine...
