Default Removing BB Maps from 8700 device - 05-17-2007, 08:36 AM

Hi there! I downloaded BB Maps form the Help menu and decided it was not worth keeping it. I connected the device to my computer to remove the app via software, but it is not shown. Then I tried Options-Advanced-Applications...not there, went into Modules...NOT THERE EITHER!!!!

So how do I remove this???? HELP!!!!

You have 2 options...

The one listed ABOVE or connect to Desktop Manager and select Application Loader then UNCHECK the box next to BBMaps...

If you are referring to Options:Advanced Options... etc. I tried that but BB Maps isn't listed.

I can't use Desktop Manager on my computer at home because I run Vista and it crashes my machine.

Try pulling the battery for 30 seconds... If you installed it, it should show up in applications... The only other options are to remove in Desktop Manager or use javaloader.... I warn against javaloader to remove this as one little mistake and you have a nice paperweight,,,

cmariani-

You have to remove the modules associated with BB Maps. I had the same problem and finally figured out that the modules were not removed when uninstalled.

Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications. When you see the list of applications, click the wheel and select Modules. Remove the following 4 modules:

net_rim_bb_lbs
net_rim_bb_lbs_api
net_rim_bb_lbs_int
net_rim_bb_lbs_res

Go here to see posting -> Remove BB Maps

When in doubt, empty the magazine...

Default Can't find the last 2 modules - 05-17-2007, 09:30 AM

The first 2 were there and I went through those and deleted them. I can't find the last 2. There are 2 called:

net_rim_lbs_internal_gps
net_rim_bb_lbs_resource_en

Are those them?

It asks me to restart after each deletion. Should I or should I delete them all and then restart?

Default All set - 05-17-2007, 09:37 AM

Deleting net_rim_bb_lbs and restarting actually deleted net_rim_bb_lbs_api as well. The others are still there but the app has gone..

Thanks

Download and install DM 4.2 SP1. That should fix the Vista issue.

Why is BBMaps called _lbs_....? LBS stands for "Location Based Services."
