Default 8703e Add Lookup to Contacts - 05-29-2007, 06:40 PM

I have a user who recently received an 8703e, which replaced his 7130e. He likes the device, but there are some minor differences that are bugging him. The big one I have yet to resolve is using the lookup function in compose email. Here are the issues:

1) After using the lookup function, there is no menu choice to 'Add,' which he would like to do for people he looks up frequently.
2) There seems to be no lookup 'memory' in that people that have been recently looked up don't show up on the list. He claims that this used to happen.

So far, I have only noticed his OS is x.344 (where Verizon has x.377 out), and when I get a hold of his device I may try seeing if an upgrade resolves the issue.

Any help or direction to the applicable link would be most appreciated!

If I understand your user's dilema - in compose email, the cursor automatically goes to To: if he/she types the beginning letter of the name - say T, all the Ts will display -- type T D all contacts with the first name begininning with T and last with D will display....

Not quite, but halfway there!
From what I understand, this is what is happening.
User goes to compose email, and it defaults on the To: line. User enters a letter, and then selects 'Lookup' from the menu. The BB returns the list it found in the lookup...BUT...when he goes to the name he wants and clicks the wheel, his only option is to continue. There aren't the usual bunch of options to Add, Add All, Get More Results, etc. So, he can only put the lookup into the To: line, where he wants to be able to just add it to his contacts so he doesn't have to look it up each time (of course he could do it the long way, but the BB _should_ have that option available).

The next related problem is post-lookup. If you run through the lookup process, select a name, and send an email with it, the next time you compose an email and start typing a name, recent lookups that match will be available. They usually appear in [name] format above the options to Email and Lookup (so if I looked up Joe Smith before, and go to compose a new email, and hit 'J', "[Joe Smith]" will precede the "Email: J" and "Lookup: J" options. Apparently this is not happening on his device, but I don't know if its specific to the 8703e, the version he is running, or if there is a different problem going on.

Hopefully that clarified the problem for you! Thanks for getting back.
