Default problem with tmo could it be the new os? - 05-31-2007, 05:44 AM

I have been having this strange problem with my BB 8700g. It may have happened since I upgraded to the new os 4.2.

This problem is intermittent. I will go an make a call. The phone says connected but I can't heat anyone on the other side. I am not sure if they hear me. If I go and redial it will do it again. Then sometimes it fixes itself. Other times I need to take out the battery for a few seconds, then re-boot and it works fine.

Any suggestions on this issue?

Is that version of 4.2 from T-Mobile? Last I heard, T-Mobile wasn't even testing it.

See the other threads about 4.2. Anyone with an 8700 can uprade to 4.2.

I know that. I am fairly up to speed on OS versions and the carriers.

You put on a new OS, unsupported by the vendor, and asked if it could be a problem.

What NJBlackBerry is saying is that the 4.2 OS is not supported or tested by T-Mobile, so there is no guarantee that it will work.

You may try wiping the device clean and reloading the OS on to it to see if that works. If you continue to experience the issue your best bet will be to go back to the latest supported OS (4.1.0.346 for T-Mobile I believe) and then see if the same thing happens.

Default 4.2 w/TMO - 05-31-2007, 08:23 AM

I have the same issues, I've wiped, reloaded and still sometimes I lose audio but stay connected. I had an old sim card which TMO replaced but still have the problem. Seems to happen in spurts. We are getting a new batch of 8700g and I will test 4.2 in one when they come in.

I have also had the same issue with the phone going dead but keeping the connection...It usually came back within 30 seconds. I tried the 4.2 versions from Venezuela and the Optus version. I had lag issues too just like most others with the 8700g.

I have since uninstalled both versions and went back to my trusty cingular version listed in my signature. That is the most stable OS that I have used on my 8700g. just my .02
