Default 4.2 on 8700c Feedback - 05-31-2007, 01:31 PM

I upgraded my phone earlier this week and have some feedback and questions for you experts / enthusiasts out there...

First, thanks for all the good information on this site - made the upgrade possible and easy.

I like the overall look and behavior of the new OS. It boots a bit slowly, but I find somethings run faster like Google maps.

The most valuable enhancement, to me, is the revised interface on the phone list. You regain the feature on the old blueberry wherein you can type person's name and it will find the person in your address book. On version 4.1 you may know that you can only type a number in the top, and must scroll down to the list area to find by name. No longer the case.

Also, the custom ring tone, which can be an mp3 format and the associated picture now with a number are nice features.

I am not using the push to talk feature.

The phone button volume is better now.

The media manager is nice - I can easily load mp3s or pictures and even short video to the device.

I have had it behave a little strangely however. I lost the ability to connect to the internet today. After turning it off and removing the battery, then rebooting all was fine. The browser seems to have some advanced features that allow you to specify how it reacts to scripts. I know version 4.1 had this also, but 4.2 seems to have more settings.

Finally, I had am wondering if there are some features I don't know about that you all have found. It seems to me that the difference between 4.1 and 4.2 are very slight.

Hope this post is valuable to someone!

cheers

I found some of my application do not work in the 4.2 and I got uncaguth exception every time my phone restart, so I change it back to 4.1.

This 4.2 Version is running absolutely fine and without any problems on my bb (and BES).
