Default Minuet for Blackberry (8703e, VZW) - 06-15-2007, 09:17 AM

In my probably useless search for a web browser which will let me connect to secure web sites via HTTPS with VZW's OS 4.1, VZW suggested I try Minuet which is available on Handango.com/VerizonWireless.

VZW told me they are testing OS 4.2 (what's to test?) but that if I want a browser which *might* work with HTTPS, I should look at Minuet.

I did download it and install it on the BB. It seems to really really suck.

Does anyone have experience with it? VZW told me that:

We are sorry that the previous email did not address your concern. Verizon Wireless is continuing to test our BlackBerry for compatibility with the BlackBerry 4.2 device software. In the meantime, please note that you can purchase a browser that is compatible with the BlackBerry 8703e and supports HTTPS. Verizon Wireless does not sell, endorse, or support the use of any 3rd party browser software, but as a courtesy, we bring to your attention one of the most popular browser for the BlackBerry 8703e. Please visit the link below for a trial version.

Am I alone in thinking I can use a wireless device to connect via HTTPS?

RON

You are not alone.

Have you tried using Opera Mini?

The last time I looked, Mini did not do HTTPS for Blackberry's. Am I wrong now?

It's certainly possible. I don't know if it's just because I'm on 4.2 or not but I can access my bank's site via HTTPS with the built-in browser. I do have to set the emulation to IE though.

if they are indeed rolling out 4.2 for the 8703e, I would more than gladly return my 8830.

FWIW, I am able to access my online banking (BoA) via my 8703e running 4.1.0.377

BB devices I've owned: 957 : 7750 : 7250 : 8703e : 8830 : 9530

BES 4.1.6.16

Yes, BofA works; Chase doesn't; neither does my company's secure home page.
