i have a few newbie questions and i was wondering if somebody would have time to anser them for me. that would be great:
1-in the desktop, i have a "messages" icon and, next to it, another icon with my email address. is there a way to set my BB device so i receive text messages in the "messages" icon and the emails in the "email" icon? so far, i get confused and i don't know anymore which ones are sms and which ones are emails
2-is there a way that i don't receive emails when i am online with my computer? so far, they just keep popping up at the same time and it's a bit anoying
3-i downloaded opera mini and installed it. when i launch it it says that it has to perform some tests in order to connect to the internet. once it's done with the tests, it says it's impossible to connect to the internet...any idea what could happen?
4-i don't have a BB browser but a vodafone browser, an icon called "vodafone live!" which i am gonna guess it's because the phone was originally meant to be used with a vodafone network. it's actually a not-so-good browser and it doesn't let me access to some websites. does anybody know how to get the basic BB browser installed?
5-i've been reading about this new OS 4.2-can in install it in my device? if so, where could i download it?
6-i am working with a mac so i don't really have a proper desktop software but a little app called pocket mac. so far i was able to synch my ical and my contacts but, for example, how do i transfer data like music, pictures or even software to the blackberry?? my bluetooth synch with the mac and the BB doesn't work either
and that is pretty much it. hope i didn't bore you and thanks a million in advance for all your help!!

2: Not really. OS version 4.2.1 has an option to turn off Data Services under
Manage Connections --> Mobile Network Options, but you'll just get all the mail when you turn it back on. I'd suggest creating a profile "At Computer" that turns off all email notifications! You'll have to check
here to see if your provider has version 4.2.1 for the 8700v yet.
3: You may need to set the APN for your device. Search the forums for your provider's settings.
4: The Vodaphone Browser should be your "Internet" browser, and Vodaphone Live is probably your WAP browser and routes through Vodaphone's network. You only get the BlackBerry Browser on a BES. They are basically the same browser, and Opera Mini is the only other Browser option for the BlackBerry.
5: See answer #2!
6: You don't! The 8700 has limited memory. You can download SMALL mp3's as ringtones, but you have to do it on the device itself.
