Default 4.2 upgrade on 8700 and google mail? - 07-07-2007, 10:15 AM

Hi,
since upgrading my 8700g to the 4.2 software in the sticky above, googlemail throws up a warning, it is:-

The application googlemail_8700_v4_0_L2 is attempting to access phone logs. Would you like to allow access? Y/N

Why the heck is gmail trying to see my phone logs?

I've chose 'No' so far. I do seem to get some kind of exception error with gmail or gtalk too, which I did not seem to get with 4.1 ?

Any idea? Anyone else seeing?

Thanks
Mike

I think it has something to do with the firewall. I just chose the "Always Allow Connections" option when I had it installed and never had issues.

Normally that warning would be something like "the xxx application is trying to access the internet...". Either a kooky bug or terribly scary.

It's not actually trying to access your phone logs but it needs access to something that falls under the phone logs. I don't recall the details but it's been discussed before and you need to grant it access. I'm sure if you search you can find the details. It's something that doesn't really sound like its part of the phone logs...
