Default Ringer does not work / Ringtone does not play - 07-24-2007, 10:10 AM

When calling my Blackberry, there is no ringer even though it is set correctly under Profile. Also, within Profile I try to play various ringtones but it gives me errors. For the .mp3 files the player gives error that it is trying to play an unsupported format (for all .mp3 ringtones). For .mid files it gives an error that it is unable to display file.

I am using an 8707g device with T-Mobile (special unlocked device our company got directly from RIM) and have recently upgraded the OS to 4.2 (downloaded from Optus site). Also I followed some instructions here to enable all themes - not sure if this is causing the issue.

Can anyone help me with this? It's tough when there is no ringtone when I am getting a call.

Thanks.

First try a simply battery pull, and reboot. You may already have done so.

Can you play any ringtones from the Media application (not from the profile section)?

Tried the reboot but no success. When I go to the Media application, same issue as it is unable to play neither the mp3 nor mid files. I can't even use my alarm since I think it is unable to play the sound. I see the alarm popup on my screen but no sound at all.

Please help!!!!

I may have something here. Checking properties of each ringtone shows the file size as being 0.0KB. So that means the actual ringtone file is not loaded on my Blackberry? How can load my ringtones? I also tried using javaloader.exe to load the ringtone cod file and it said the load was successful, but still cannot play any ringtones.

shimmers, download them from a website. You can upload them in a yahoo briefcase or something. Then go there with your BB browser and play and save to your BB.
