Default battery life 8703e - 08-14-2007, 12:20 PM

i know there's a lot of talk about how to maximize battery life - i'm looking for input. just purchased a new 8703e and haven't activated it yet. should i use it out of the box until the battery dies, then give it its first charge, or charge it first all the way....or does this even matter? it may be stupid, just curious. also, ive heard 2 schools of thought about charging - first, wait until the phone dies to charge it, second you can charge it whenever cause it's lithium. input?!?! thanks!

The only advice I have is to NOT totally discharge the battery. This will damage it. I usually charge each night but not always. I will charge when I feel I do not have enough for the duration I will be using while out and about. You cannot over-charge it, charge it when it needs it but throw it on there before it drops all the way down.

I would go ahead and throw a full charge on it since you have not activated it yet. That way when activating, you will have plenty of charge on it to finish.

yes, what swede said. charge to full and then don't worry about it until you activate it. (unless you can't help yourself and you play with it too much before activating..ha ha).

ditto, charge out of the box to 100% plus a little time.

Discharge as needed each day and recharge to 100% each time, and top off as needed during the day if getting low. Don't let it hit 10-15% every discharge.

About 1x a month, discharge to 10-15% for 2-3 times in a row, to reset the "meter" in the battery, and then back to the full charge and topping off during the day.
