Default Fast blinking red light when on phone - 08-16-2007, 10:19 AM

I think this just started in the last day or so. When I use the phone, the red notification LED blinks fast with a red light. Is this typical? It has always blinked red when I have a message of any sort waiting or I missed an incoming call. I don't think it always blinked red while on the phone.

Can anyone else confirm this is also the case with them and always has been?

Are you on a BES? I seem to remember an IT Policy that mentioned something about the LED light being on when the phone or speakerphone was in use....

Default I believe so. - 08-16-2007, 10:58 AM

Forgive my ignorance, but I believe you are asking if I am on an enterprise server, and I am pretty sure I am, since mine is a work phone. I posed this question to our IT group, so I'll see if they reply.

Default Got the message below from IT: - 08-16-2007, 10:59 AM

"I noticed a feature of our latest version of BlackBerry software is for the indicator light to flash red rapidly any time the microphone is activated on the phone.

This seems to be a new feature recently added."

I checked our Blackberry server and it is indeed an option on the IT Policy...not sure why anyone would use it...but it's there

Most likely to indicate an open mic while in a private meeting.

The light is on whether I mute the phone or not.
