Question BB Blackberry Messenger question - 08-20-2007, 08:01 PM

Hi, I'm new to the forums and to blackberry. So far so good except for some things.

I'm having trouble downloading blackberry messenger. It says "Sorry, your wireless service provider does not allow access to Blackberry Messenger for your device.

My carrier is T-mobile. I have some buddies who are also on t-mobile and are not having any problems whatsoever.

Can any please explain to me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Joel

Do you mean that your friends aren't getting this message if they try to download or that they're not having problem using BBM?

I get the same message...

I am on T-Mobile and have BlackBerry Messenger installed and working fine, with an 8700g. From where are you attempting to install the program? I always install BlackBerry Messenger from the Desktop Manager application.

Agree with the above. I don't think you should be having any problem with an 8700 on TMO unless it's operator error. If you are downloading OTA, are you doing it from mobile.blackberry.com using the blackberry browser?

I tried installing from both the 8700g browser (home screen>blackberry messenger).

ALSO I have tried connecting to the computer. It prompts me to connect to the computer in order to download, but then it says:

Unsupported Device

Your device is not supported at this time.

???desktop.message.requirements???

whats up with that? I can't even download the software. and when i try to unplug the phone, and then download it says:

"No BlackBerry Device Found

Connect your BlackBerry device to the USB port on this computer now to load BlackBerry Messenger./>"

What should I do?

You have the desktop software (desktop manager and device manager) installed on your computer, right?

yea, Blackberry Desktop Manager Version 4.2.2.14. I ran a backup of my data from my BB so I know it works (and it says connected on the desktop manager software).

I think pulling battery (30+ seconds) is better.

Still not working on both BB browser AND desktop manager.

Is there any way I can get around downloading the software other than the website?

Just to double check here.....Can you connect your BB to the computer and then launch app loader from desktop manager? I see above you are running OS 4.2.....if you can launch app loader and see the list of applications, is BB messenger there in the list? And if so is it unchecked? Can you check it and then install...

Or does desktop manager error out somewhere after you connect the BB?

Wish I could help, but this is over my head now.....you are running OS 4.2, and I thought BB messenger is in 4.2. I'm confused....I expected you to see it in app loader, but unchecked. .

U can try updating the software on the bb and see if that works.

What OS are you running on your 8700? Is it an 8700g from TMobile or another device unlocked an running on TMobile. All 4.2 OS devices must have BBMessenger installed through Desktop Manager with the OS installation. If you have 4.2 OS on the device and tried to download BBMessenger off of the web you will have problems. Be sure and delete that version 1.0.94 off of the device before proceding.

Install the OS to the PC along with Desktop Manager. Run Application Loader. You should see a check box for BBMessenger. Check the box and finish the installation.

If it still doesn't load there may be another problem. Are you currently on a BES? If not, where did you get the device? Was it new or used? If it was used it's possible that there is leftover IT policy restricting Blackberry Messenger from being used. You can check for IT policy by going to Options >Security Options >General Settings. Scroll down to the bottom and look for any reference to IT policy
