Default "Reconcile Messages" how to use - 09-04-2007, 01:15 AM

HI,
I am using BB 8700. When I read my mail in BB, it gets marked in Outlook as "read" but when I read the mail in Outlook, it does not get marked in BB as "read", can this be done using "Reconcile Messages"?
Or else, is there any other way of using it?

Based on the fact that e-mail messages read on the BlackBerry are marked as read within Outlook, I assume that you have a BES configuration. When you read a message of the device, the fact that it has been read is reconciled with the BES server almost immediately. In the other direction, it is not nearly as instantaneous since it depends on the interval in which your client reconciles changes to the server. Check your Outlook options to see the setting for "Schedule an automatic send/receive every __ minutes" -- reducing this number (make sure the feature is enabled!) may help. Once it is reconciled, it still needs to be pushed out to the device via the BES server.

Hope this helps...

I have a related question. I'm using an 8800 with BES and Outlook/Exchange. I'd like to turn OFF the feature that marks my emails as "read" in Outlook when I view them first on the BB. Anyone know how to do that? Thanks.

The answer to the OP is no. I think there is a FAQ that explains this. I have BIS and when I read a message on the BB it is marked as read on the server outlook. However, when I read all the message on the computer I have to manually mark all the messages as read. This can be done by clicking on the first or last message of a series, holding down the caps button and scrolling the trackwheel until all previously read messages are highlighted then click "mark opened". Click again, and there they all are, marked as read.

To BKissel, that is a question best asked in the 8800 forum.
