Default sms message won't highlight phone number for quick dialing - 09-10-2007, 06:28 PM

Hi all, my blackberry won't highlight a phone number in my sms message. This makes it pretty frustrating to call back the person. Is there something that I've missed in my set up? Thanks for any assistance.

Well this sounds quite strange to me. Any number which is more than 4 digits is highlighted and can be called on my phone.

Sorry, I dunno what could be wrong. I would agree that copying the number and pasting in the phone would be irritating.

I love my BlackBerry/CrackBerry and will fight anyone who says different.

I am able to call a SMS sender by scrolling up to highlight the number, click on the thumbwheel and choose Call +1########## . . .

You may try pulling the battery for 30 seconds to see if that works, if this is still an issue.

It's all very strange... Since I started this thread I have tried a variety of things. I find that if the number has no seperators of any sort then it will highlight, if the seperator is a period it will highlight but if anything else is used then it just doesn't recognize the string of numbers as a phone number. It's pretty frustrating since the majority of my messages come from my office (I am a Realtor and get alot of pages) and the paging system is preprogrammed. I was lucky in that my answering service was able to provide a workaround for me so my evening pages work but I am still screwed during the day. It's interesting that no one else has the same problem.
