I have been using my 8700 as a tethered modem (T-Mobile) and though it is not as fast as other services it is very managable.

Recently I have not been able to connect. I get the error that my BB modem is not responding. I checked the modem settings... everything appears to be in place but the BB modem does not respond.

The USB port is still viable as I am able to sync and charge...

Any thoughts?

I have the same problem but haven't got a solution yet. It's not that critical for me as can sync up my email at work anyway but would love to know what the issue is.Seems to have happened post 4.2 upgrade

a guy in our field services group has reported to me that cingular/at+t 8700c's have not been able to tether on devices running 4.2.x - apparently its an open issue w/ AT+T.
