Default No GPRS/EDGE - please help! - 09-14-2007, 09:20 AM

Hi all

I recently moved up from my old T-Mobile BB 7100, keeping my number, to ATT BB 8700. All went smoothly, transfered the number etc, except that I cannot get GPRS or EDGE service - I only get GSM (yes, I have a data plan).

Rebooted, pulled battery, phoned tech, pulled SIM card, updated software to 4.2, registered on BB site and sent service book - stuff recommended that I found on the web.

I also ran a diagnostics test - and get Data Radio not Activated (I checked in Networks and the data receiver is turned on).

The Host Routing Table is empty so I cannot register the BB.

At my wits end. Please help. (I live in DC - so I definitely should get GPRS/EDGE).

Thanks
Tim

Welcome to the forums! I would say if you tried to register your host routing table with no luck, you will need to contact AT&T. I had a similar issue with verizon. I ordered a device with an unlimited data plan to be provisioned for BES access and when I received it, the HRT was empty and it wouldn't register. Verizon fixed it right up.

Thanks! I will escalate the problem when I call.

Here's hoping...

Cheers

Ok - after innumerable calls, slowly going up the rungs of tech support, trying numerous things, a tech support fella told me the following - "Oh - your number came over from T-Mobile... wait at least 24 hours and you should get data..."

So, I waited 24 hours... and EDGE appeared!!

Happy ending!

Tim

I assume that you are in an ATT coverage area?
