Default 8703e-Sprint-Data Plan - 09-15-2007, 08:36 PM

I signed up for the 10MB data plan. What does that mean? Does that mean that I can download 10MB worth of data in a month or does it mean that my bandwidth usage can't exceed 10MB at any time? Does GPS count towards the data usage? Most importantly, is there any way I can check my current data usage (whether it's MB downloaded per month or current bandwidth usage) preferably on the phone itself, and if not, on the sprint website? Thanks to whomever can help.

It means you pay for the first 10MB you use on the plan, and any overage you use is at a per kbyte rate (can get quite expensive). It does NOT prevent you from going over.... and there isn't any way to check until you get the bill and spit coffee all over it.

If you're going to be surfing or IM'ing a lot, you'll want to the Unlimited plan. I can use up 10MB in 10 days, easy (but that's me )

Yes, thank you for your response, but I'm still not clear on what the definition of "use" is.

Data use includes emailing (sending/receiving), using IM such as Blackberry Messenger, Yahoo IM, etc (OZ messenger doesn't use data), and surfing the internet.

OK, thanks again. I think I get it. Do you know of any way to check how much data you've used so far in a month and whether GPS counts toward the total?

I don't think there is any way you can check - other than calling your carrier, and even then they may not be able to check for the current bill cycle (can usually only tell you how much you used on a completed bill cycle).

I am pretty sure GPS uses data....hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm.

Sure GPS uses data, and if maps are downloading with it, lots of data.
