Default My 8703e drains the battery so bad! - 10-09-2007, 03:33 PM

I am not using any third party software.. I made a 2 minute phone call this morning and that's it. It's been off the charger since 7am when I walked out of the house on my way to work and as of right now.. it's down to 35%. This is ridiculous! At this rate, it'll be completely out by dinner time.

is an active browser page open (ALT + Escape)?

How long have you had this BB? How old is the battery?

No active browser page. I've had it around 4-5 months.

ALT+ESC shows: Home Screen, BB Messenger, Phone, Browser and Messages

If you are certain there is nothing else going on...

I would recommend letting it drain on down to 15% today/night and then making sure it charges to 100% tomorrow. Do that the next couple of drain-downs (to 15% and fully charge back to 100%) to see if that helps, it should.

Does it hurt the battery to constantly charge it? Because I would leave it plugged in the charger once I got home. It would be plugged in overnight until the next morning I go to work. Not it doesn't seem to hold a charge as long as it used to.

Yea, gps would be key. You don't need to constantly charge it, 100% is 100%. I leave my plugged in at night though with no problem.

I don't run any GPS on it right now and I also turned off Location Based Services off just as a precaution. That hasn't helped. The only problems running in the background are those listed in my previous post (the default programs).

What theme are you using? I had an issue with an 8700g running a Today theme. It would run the battery down to nothing in less than a day. I had him switch themes and reboot. Problem was solved.

If you have the bluetooth function on, that'll drain the battery also.

One possibility is that you are in a poor reception area. This will drain the battery much more quickly.

Bluetooth, unless actually connected, doesn't drain the battery that quickly.

Oh I know this one all to well.. If i'm in town, my battery will last for days. If i'm at home, my battery will go dead within 6 hours. I live in an analog cell reception area and every once and a while it will pickup the digital signal if I'm on my second floor and drain the battery trying to connect with it.
