Default Insert SIM - Unrecognized? - 10-12-2007, 09:47 AM

Hello all, I have not seen this problem before but I have a few Bberry 8700C's and I have one that was practically brand new when i bought from a company that went out of biz. It was locked and I followed the BbFaq to wipre it and remove their IT policy on it which I removed but no matter what SIM card I put in, it still does not recognize the SIM card.

I tried multiple sim's from other Bberry's and just standard GSM phones, its Cingular and thats what we run. Could they have had another policy or somthing on it to block SIM's etc that I missed? Is the phone bad? This one was basically still brand new in the box just missing the battery.

Thanks in advance.

What exactly does it say when you insert the sim and turn on the BB?

Any IT policy would appear at Options > Security Options > General Settings > scroll to bottom of screen. What is listed under services? Nothing? No IT policy.

I assume your other SIMs would have worked in other BBs?

Sorry i also meant to put that I did a total wipe, then i installed the most current Bberry OS for that phone.. 4.2 and still nothing.

It boots up, does the verifying security thing, then under my ATT logo it says "Insert Sim Card" and in the top right next to the antenna icon.. "SOS"

Yes my other sim's work in other bberrys and phones so I know my sims are good, i have about 22 phones mainly standard, but 3-4 bberry's. Nothing under security options for services so the IT policy is gone.

I used the FAQ to get rid of the IT policy which involved a regedit, starting the program and using the bin file i believe.

Either bad contacts on the SIM holder or bad phone . . . try to spray the SIM holder with a quality electronics cleaner that doesnt leave residue . . . it's possible that the previous owner had known that this device has an issue hence it looks brand new and no battery enclosed...
