Default Outlook calendar - 10-12-2007, 10:27 AM

My secretary sends out updated calendar entries daily from Outlook. I receive the emails fine on my Blackberry 8703e but I can't open the calendar attachment. She sends the entries individually, then we just drag the calendar attachment over to our calendar. How can I do this on my blackberry so I don't have to enter everything manually?

You can do one of two things:
1) Have your secretary update the calendar in outlook and use the calendar to actually send the emails. What she's doing is probably changing the calendar, then attaching that event to an email. That's not how you're supposed to do it. The calendar itself can send change emails that are readable by the blackberry.

2) As the previous poster said, accept the new calendar in outlook on your computer, then synch the blackberry with your computer.

When you make a calendar entry in Outlook, you can add "attendees." These attendees represent the people invited to the meeting (or event or whatever). When you save the entry, outlook will email all the attendees with a standard calendar entry email. This email contains meta data read by email clients (and your blackberry) that will allow you to automatically add that meeting to your calendar by clicking an "accept" button.

What she is doing in making a private event with no attendees, and then attaching that event to an email to the attendees. She needs to set up the attendees, that way any new meetings or modifications to meetings will be automatically sent to the people who are invited, and they can accept or decline the meetings from their email client or blackberry.

just give her permission to edit your calendar in outlook. that way it will automatically sync to your blackberry. however, you won't get a notice of any new appointments or changes to appointments.
