Default Reconnecting to JVM - Freeze - 507 - 10-13-2007, 05:05 PM

Hey all,

Ive been through the FAQ a few times but can't seem to get one of my 8700's back to life. I was upgrading the OS, and it hung up at the part where it goes to "Wait for Device Initialization" then it sits at "Reconnecting to JVM".

It never went past that I let it sit overnight, rebooted the PC and BBerry and the Bberry on screen now says 507 which i read means no OS. Makes sense. If I plug it in USB, i get a never ending rotating hour glass.

Where do I go from here, I can get the OS reload to go again only by running Loader.EXE /nojvm . I can not get Javaloader.exe or JL_Cmder to gain access to the Bberry, it just sits at connecting, never goes anywhere.

Am I done? Is it bricked? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you fried the radio hardware. I've done that too, I have a 7520 paperweight I just threw in the dumpster.

No, 507 just means no OS. Likely if he just connects back to the computer and runs Application Loader again it will load the OS. Something just glitched in there somewhere. I've had it happen every once in a while.

The 7520 was another story. When it did that it was usually all over for the 7520. The 8700 doesn't have that problem

Man that stinks. I'm gonna try the nojvm switch when I get home but I'm pretty sure I've already tried that

JL_Cmder only wipes the device and leaves you with 507. You already have that. It means no OS. You should be able to just open Desktop Manager and then run Application Loader. It should then detect the device and load the OS.

Well the problem was the OS wouldn't reload so I just removed everything from my desktop, rebooted, reinstalled everything, and then tried one last time to run the Loader with the Nojvm switch, and FINALLY, I have her back.

Thanks for all the help here!

Good to hear. Stuck on 507 is never a good story.
