Default auto refresh on espn site? - 10-14-2007, 07:11 PM

I used to have the 7130c and when I visit espn website and use the auto refesh feature...it would automatically refresh. But when I do that on my 8700c. It keeps prompting about if I want to refresh the page. So what feature do I need to enable on the browser to stop asking that? Thx in advance.

There was a thread on Pinstack about how any page that the auto refresh time is 60 seconds or more, you get a confirmation dialog. Less than 60 seconds and it refreshes with the dialog.

Playing around with it last night I found that the ESPN scoreboard pages that show multiple scores refresh more frequently than 60 seconds and work fine. The single game views must be 60 seconds or longer though.

Hmmm...good question. This problem maybe be related to os version. I'm not sure what os is my 7130c but I think it is 4.1 since I've been using it back in when first came out and never upgraded the os.

So dunno. If this happens when I get the 8300. Then we will know if it is the os or not. Or maybe someone with the new pearl with the new os can confirm if they have this problem or not?

I tried coding some of my auto refresh pages containing a weather image to less than 60 seconds.

it does 'refresh' but unfortunately, just reloads what is in the cache, and does not call in the updated image from the server.

Any idea of how to get around this?

Thanks

Anyway. This problem no longer exist on my 8310! Thank God!

I have the same problem. I have the 8310 with the most recent OS and this happens on the ESPN site. It also happened when I had my 8300. It never happened with my 8800. I wish someone could figure out a solution. The auto refresh feature is kind of useless if you have to keep telling it to refresh.

I was having the same issues, and just stumbled across the solution for this one.

Change the browser emulation mode to Openwave (WAP), and refresh works great!
