MP3 ringtones do work on the 8830.

Make sure it is under 500kb, and under 30 seconds.

No they do all things very well except transfer ringtones to a BB. BB makes no product for that on a mac and only supports the PC.

The third party program, pocketMac, is terrible at transferring files if it can be done at all.

What's the problem? I set MP3s (Full songs) for my ringtones all the time. I have a 2GB card full of songs that I go into Media Player highlight the song and hit menu/set as ringtone. It'll play without any issues when the phone rings.

Works fine with a microSD card. You transfer MP3s directly to the card.

As long as the Mac supports USB Mass Storage devices it should work fine.

Default The BB device supports PC not Apple - 10-22-2007, 06:32 PM

and the third party app that is supposed to work with an Imac, PocketMac, isnt very good. It doesnt work very well with a mac and does not transfer files at all. All it will do it sync an address book. sort of.

So the only way I know left to get ringtones on the phone is to wap to the file or send it via email but it is limited to 30 seconds or less and under 500k in size.

Wether it takes more than that with a memory card I know not right now.
