Default Unlock Att&T 8820 for T-mobile use - 10-19-2007, 06:07 PM

if I unlock an 8820 and use it on t-mobile - what are the chances that when T-mobile releases their 8820 that I will be able to download their software and make everything work on the AT&T unlocked 8820? Is it possible that they will lock out any AT&T purchased 8820's?

very good chance as long as you download the tmo OS and the correct desktop manager 4.2 SP.

There are no rumors about T-Mobile offering the 8820.
All the software is written by RIM. It is tested and released by the carriers. If you want to load "T-Mobile software" to remove the AT&T branding, it won't work.

Thank you - No I'm not concerned about the AT&T branding. I was just hoping that if they do release a UMA enable 8820 device that I could make this device work with T-Mobile UMA ( I know it won't currently ). I know that no one can be certain, I just appreciate everyones opinion.

I was also concerned that they might be able to lock out At&t 8820 phones if they release their own 8820 - but that's obviously an unfounded concern...

Has anyone any information on an 8820 for T-Mobile? Even a rumor?

quite a few unsubstantiated rumors - like on howardforums.com - HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - What happens with biz. model of BlackBerry at T-Mobile

And here -
HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - T-Mobile Gets WiFi Curve, AT&T Gets GPS Curve

Seems like the rumors there are from the same guy - of course WHO KNOWS what's real....

Ah yes - the "coming this holiday season", which conflicts with what I've heard.

All rumors anyway

Neither one of these things matter as far as using a device on another carrier. And, if Tmo didn't release the 8820 they wouldn't have a "Tmo released" OS.
