Default 8830 Verizon Video Problem - 10-20-2007, 08:51 PM

I've got the 8830 World Edition from Verizon, and I have seen videos on it, but anymore, whatever way I try to get video to it I just get the "loading" message when I try to play anything from the memory card. I've tried re-formatting the card and putting the clips back on it, etc.... All of my MP3 audio files play fine, ringtones work, etc... I've tried many different conversion programs, Media Studio, ImToo, etc... Any thoughts?

Where are you getting the videos?

I've tried many different types of videos, avi's from my camera, mp4's from my daughter's IPOD, (Mr. and Mrs Smith, I watched that one time, now it just says "loading") even the Blackberry sample video doesn't play anymore. I've tried ripping directly from DVD using IMToo and MediaStudio and those programs build MP4's that I can watch on my computer, but not on the Blackberry. I have re-loaded the Blackberry to fresh from the install CD and still no go...

Any help (or hints!) appreciated!

The ipod has DRM. That and the incompatible format. Which is a no-go.
Audio is different when it comes to itunes.
I don't have the link for acceptable formats on my handheld, which may solve some of your problem.
As one alternative, take a look at "torrents". They format rather easily on into your device.

try mobiola studio .. you can download a demo on handango.com .. use it to convert the video to your 8830 and it should play fine .. handy little utility .. the demo is good for 10 or 15 full conversions ... could also be something funky with your card, what is it? (what size, which manufacturer).

If you cannot play the default sample video anymore then it sounds like a issue with your device. Get that default video working first then move to the other format issues. You could try the "Wipe Device" option in the Options security menu. This will bring it back to its original state.

The ImToo software works great. I just chose the Blackberry 320x240 format and pointed it to a DVD I had in the drive. Once the DVD was ripped, I just transferred it directly to my media card without using the Media program included with the Blackberry.
