That depends on your definition of 'best'. The 8320 is also out from T-Mobile.

I personally like the 8320 right now; it is the best TMOBILE BlackBerry FOR ME.

giggity ... I just got an 8320 ... IMHO its the best thing out there, but then my definition is:

1) Coverage at home (covered with UMA & H@H)
2) QWERTY Keyboard
3) Key layout like the 8700 series (I don't like how the 8800 keys dont have space between them)
4) Ability to tether
5) Camera (too many times I wanted to take a picture and just couldn't)
6) SD Card expansion (my other MP3 player ... has 128mb ... I now have a 1GB card )
7) Newest thing out there ... I was sick of finding out about new features and functionality from reading blogs or reading posts here ... I want to know about this stuff from my usage, not someone elses.

My other device is an 8703e from VZW

I tried out the 8320, had some issues with it, and went back to my 8800. I like it much better.

I have both a 8800 and a 8320 from Tmo. Since the OP's questions seemed to be focused on video, I'd have to give the win to the 8320. While both devices play the same video formats, the OS on the 8320 has a better video player than the 8800. Out of the box, the 8320 can play full-screen vids. You'll need to get a secondary video player for the 8800 to do the same.

However, video quality, once converted, is very good on both devices. I think the sound is a bit better on the 8320 and I think it supports bluetooth stereo output as well, although I've not got a pair of headphones to try this.

I do think the screen looks a bit better on the 8800 though. Marginally, but a bit better. And I was one of the strange few who actually PREFERRED the 8800's keyboard to the cheaper feeling one on the 8320. The 8800 just felt more solid to me overall. But for video playback, the 8320 wins. All the other features (UMA/Wifi) are just bonuses.

I flip-flop back and forth between my 8300 and 8800. Seems like every time the wind blows I change.

tethering didn't work for me
camera wasn't impressive
you never know how much you use your gps until you don't have it anymore.

overall I just liked my 8800 better. the 8320 is a great phone but not for my needs.

Ahhh ... a good post giving some details; thank you! While I disagree with you on some things I'm sure there are more than a few people with the same view as yourself.

The 8800 was gone from T-Mobile's site for quite a while, but now it's back. Supply issues?

The 88xx on both AT&T and Tmobile site also cost more than the 83xx.

The new version for AT&T (8820) is MUCH better than the original 8800. The original 8800 didn't have WiFi. I almost got the 8320 until I saw the new 8820. Just wait, because it's WiFi, all it's going to take is a certificate update to allow UMA capability. When this happens I'm unlocking it and putting my Tmo sim card in it.

I agree with TeritaM on some of the 8320 issues, except for UMA which worked well from home and office. I have one user who was in Costa Rica last week who used his WiFi for placing calls when there was no other service. I tried an 8320 after using an 8800 for 6 months and went back. However, I almost cant wait for the WiFi 8820 to come to TMO.

Why did you go back? I currently have 8800 and love it but have been fooling with the idea of getting a 8320 cause i would love wifi... also i have heard with the 8820 people can get xm radio... is that true!?

I love the gps and would be willing to get a puck to get the wifi that i feel i woudl use more.

Interesting...I have been using the 8830 on Sprint for several months and have been impressed and pleased with the performance as well as the build quality. I had heard of quality issues on the initial 8300's, so I waited until this week to try the 8320 on TMobile....and I have to say, the 8320 is a bit of a disappointment: not only does it not seem as well-made and solid as the 8830...there is a fair amount of "flexing" built into it; and its performance is noticeably slower. The keyboard, while different from that of the 8830, does not perform any better (for me). Another surprise to me: even though the footprint of the 83XX is smaller than the 88XX, the overall mass seems to be about the same...the 83XX is, in fact, a little thicker. The GPS on the 8830 has been terrific, but Wi_Fi is also nice. I may have just talked myself into the 8820!
