Default 8820 Wi-fi on Work Network - 10-22-2007, 05:23 AM

Hi Guys
Maybe I'm missing something simple!
Got my Orange 8820 connected to the wifi network at work no problems - sends and receives without fault.
Being the web developer I was trying to find a way of browsing our local webserver on the network using the blackberry browser, but it isn't able to find it.
The 8820 has been assigned an ip address on the network, and the browser is working through wifi, but it is unable to find the webserver, giving either a 503 error when i enter the server name or a squid proxy error when i enter the ip address to browse

Any suggestions?

In response to the OP, I believe this is due to all web traffic being routed through BIS or BES. I tried configuring my home wireless router via its web interface by entering the router's IP address and receive the same error. Even while browsing on Wifi, the traffic is still routed through BIS / BES.

Default I have the answer! - 10-23-2007, 10:28 AM

After a little fiddling around I cracked it guys

All i did was change the browser type to wifi browser, et voila - we have lift off

So if you have a local web server on your wifi, this appears to be the answer - let me know if it works for you too!!

How exactly do you force it to use the wifi browser?
