Question here's a good question - 10-22-2007, 11:11 AM

I live in Canada and own a 8830....(telus)
I travel to the US often and just bought a pearl through AT&T.....in order to cut down the huge roaming costs
The 8830 checks my mail for me..however when I am in the US i want the pearl to do it,....and not the 8830 (option for no datat while roaming exists)
I set up an account for both providers..Same USER same PASS ( i do not think that was a good idea becuase when i go tot he AT&T account, on my PC...it goes right back to telus ...i can tell becuase of the telus Icon on the top left.)
Now i created the email account with AT&T for the pearl....but it's not checking my email.
In order to test i tried sending an email from my regular account marshallat73dotcom via the pearl..but nothing was recieved, however when i created a BB AT&T address and sent a test email...it did work and i was able to reply.

Any suggestions before heading out for a week into the US....and finding out i cannot get my emails properly....I'll suffer :(
ladies and gentleman....I rely on ur expertise to guide me...
Thanks.

Pulling the battery (while powered on) to reboot the device will install the service books you need for the mail to flow.

ok, you are not receiving the BIS push email from your marshallat73dotcom account, or able to send from that account?

Did you setup that account at your BIS site?

No, that is possible to do. I am doing it right now with ATT and TMo, two devices both receiving and sending from the same email account.

However, you MUST make sure your email server keeps the messages after checking, so the other device can grab it also.

I am not able to send or receive with the AT&T account....
The server...MUST be keeping the emails up there since they are downloaded to my Outlook account as well.

ok, reviewing your first post:

You can send and receive to/from [email address]

You cannot send or receive your personal email. You have it setup at the ATT BIS website. You have received the service books for that email address?

Look at Options > Advanced > Service Books. You should see a Service Book entry for each email address you have services for, noted by the "@" symbol in the line. You will see one for the "@att.blackberry.net" address.

Do you see a line for the "@73dotcom" address? If not, then that account is NOT correctly setup. You can recheck the setup at the ATT BIS site, and always can resend the service books.

Also shouldn't you make sure your Outlook has the box checked to leave a copy on the server as well.

JSanders!!! I tip my hat to you and your colleagues...on the forum.
I have received an email indicating that the account is registered and the service book for that account is now visible.
I appreciate your help.
Thank you very very much.

Cool, glad it worked. Apparently there might have been a mistake in the first setup of the email, or at least it was never registered, and did this time.

Good to hear, enjoy your travel.
