Default Set Password - 10-23-2007, 10:35 AM

I have searched the forums but cannot find anything to solve my problem. I have a new BB 8830 ( 1 month). So far I have not locked it with a password. But now I am going abroad and would like to be able to do so. In the general settings for Options-Security password is currently disabled. If I enable it do I then enter a personal password ( I don't think I did that when I originally started using the 8830)? What I am afraid of is if I enable password it then it locks my BB and I won't know how to unlock it. I have looked in the pdf manual for an answer to this question also. Maybe I missed something or am just dumb. BTW this is a personal device.

Well when you enable it at this time it will ask for a password. Then it will lock your phone after it times out. You will need to enter a password everytime you want to unlock it. If you go back to disable it at that time it will ask for your password to make sure you are the person who knows the password to do this function. Once it is disabled again you will not have to use a password to unlock it. If you forget your password it will give you 5 times or attempts to get it right and if all attempts fail it wipes the handheld and all data is deleted.

Hope this helps

Default password won"t pass authentication - 10-24-2007, 06:49 AM

I set a password and it is performing the lock/unlock function and I was able to disable it in settings. But when I try to get into password keeper it will not accept it. I am up to 8/10 and don't want to lose everything. 8830/Verizon.

Default Lock problem - 10-25-2007, 08:05 AM

I have only had my blackberry 8800 for a week I put a lock on it so unwanted people couldnt see my information, however after doing so I left my blackberry when I went out. One of my family members had tried to unlock the password therfore locking it and deleting my information from the blackberry.
This is a real problem ive lost all the packaging because im moving soon so I cant look on the manual. Now when I open the phone up it says jum error reset.
Is there any way I can start using it again or reseting the password.
I am completly unhappy over this can somebody please help me I would be more than greatfull
