Default BES Email Issue - 10-23-2007, 12:35 PM

I've searched and searched and went through the threads with no help.

It seems once a week I need to call my BES admin to reactivate my device. It just stops getting emails. Nothing changes on my phone. I never turn it off...never hook it up to my pc..I just plug it in for power at night and continue on each day. What would make the connection drop so frequently. No one else in my company seems to have this issue. Any yes, the others do have an 8830.

Taking out the batter and waiting 30 seconds never works, either.

Any shed light on this would be great!

If the BES people can not find the problem, you could have a defective unit.

Are you able to send/receive calls when email stops?
Are you able to search the Internet from your device after email stops?
Do you see "1XEV" in the upper right-hand corner?

The problem could be data-related. Contact VZW Support and have them check the provisioning on your device. All else, it could be defective.

BES admin, I am assuming that you are using a company device with runs on its own Enterprise server?

I have the same issue with our BES. My 8800 will stop recieving emails at least once a month. I can still send emails and phone and internet works fine. Mine and one other 8800 seem to have it happen far more frequently than anyone else. We both live in an area where we don't always have signal at home is only common thing we both have. We always have to get password and reactivate the unit. We are with AT&T. It has never happened to us at the same time that we lose the ability to recieve email.

Provisioning will not make a device stop receiving email once a week.

Sure it can. It has happened to a number of users that I have on two different carriers. If the carrier does not have your device set up correctly on their network, then email and/or voice can be impacted.

Default Same problem here - 11-06-2007, 08:30 PM

I have 2 8800's on AT&T on our BES. They just stop receiving emails all the time. I started revewing BES log files and found that the BES server is marking it out of service even though it claims to have full signal strength and EDGE. It has been going on for 2 months now. AT&T and RIM seem clueless. A quick fix is to make a phone call and hang up or click on the email recon. If RIM ever gets back to me I'll post...
