Default Email send button is missing. - 10-24-2007, 08:39 AM

When I attempted to reply to an email yesterday, there was no send button. The only thing I can do is save draft. It is on a BES and I checked my policy and service books and they are all there, so I don't think it's there... any idea what would be removing the send button?

Update: If I create a new mail the send button is there. If I reply to one, it's not.

Sounds like something in your BES that is restricting your replying. Have you talked to the Admins of your BES?

I had a curve do that and I had to contact AT&T tech support. Their answer was a service book but I tried that myself and it didn't work. What ever service book they sent worked??

Is that corporate mail, or BIS mail?

Your BES may restrict your ability to reply to mail set up using BIS.

Default Same Issue Here - 10-25-2007, 08:23 PM

I am having the same issue. I have one account (BES) that I can receive email, but I cannot send replies to any message that comes from the BES account. Our BES server has no restrictions, so I do not beleive this is a security setting. The send function disappeared as soon as I added an additional account to the device (BIS). When I look at the Enterprise Activation tab, the account is active. I'm not able to see the account in my list of email accounts though. Ultimately, I would like to have the BES account as the default email address, but I don't see it listed. Any help would be appreciated.

Nice hijack of the thread

I am the BES admin and I have no restrictions on my account. I will follow up with verizon.

Does anyone know where the setting is on the BES to prohibit sending messages?

You may need to delete service book on your device and have the carrier or your BES admin to send you a new service book.

I have already deleted all desktop service books and reapplied my IT policy and resent the service books. This did not resolve the issue. I still can't reply to messages. I have looked all over but can't find a setting that disables replying to messages.

(for future posts, I am the BES admin)

I had a similar issue once. I could reply to some contacts, but to others, there was no option to send/reply when I selected them.

I am on a hosted BES, so there were no restrictions in place. No one could figure out the problem, so finally I just wiped the device (using jl_cmdr) and started over and everything worked fine after that. I figure something in the file system/address book got corrupted.

We are using Lotus notes and a BES on win2k3 linked with AD.

I went to do a "get more" on an email and it said it coudln't do it because the service book wasn't there... I've resent service books 10 times over and it still does that. I've even deleted all the service books labeled desktop and then resent them and they all applied successfully.

Any idea what service book is used for the "get more" and the "reply / send"?

Maybe one of them isn't making it to the phone.

I am having the same issue with my curve. I have resent the service book and that did not change anything. I can send new emails but not reply to any. When I reply to the email and go to send it I only have "Save Draft" and "Full Menu". No send option.

I had this happen once before with another user but I had to rebuild her handheld. I would like to find a OTA fix. So they will not have to send them in to me.

When the message is received on the BB, which service book does it list for "received using"? Most times, it is a situation where an address book entry is linked to a service book that no longer exists.

Hi All,

Send Button Missing, Not able to reply etc..

Solution : Firstly remove the service books from blackberry device and then hard reboot the device. Now if BIS - ask the service provider to resend the same after making a Register Now (you can send the service books on your device by yourself if you login on to the service provider's web-page like for airtel airtel.blackberry.com)

For BES ask your BES admin to resend the service books after you have done a Register Now.

If the problem still persists you can take the backup and reinstall the software on the same but after the s/w is reinstalled dont restore the entire backup (only address book is suggested as at times couple mails get corrupted and creates the problem.)

Hope this will help you all !!

Cheers

This worked for me. My BB has three email accounts. My BB is on a BES server. My main "corporate" account, that linked me to BES, did not have the send button when replying. I initially deleted all my desktop service books, and then resent them but no go. Finally what worked for me is that I removed the other two email accounts and resent the service books from BES and did a hard reboot. That did it, then I added the other two email accounts back on.

Thank you for your help!
