Default LATEST OS: DOBSON 8800 4.2.1.175 AP:4.2.1.107 Plat: 2.3.0.83 - 10-24-2007, 11:01 AM

Software For BlackBerry 8800 (TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.175 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.2.1.175
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.2.1.107
* Software Platform: 2.3.0.83
* File name: 8800M_PBr4.2.1_rel175_PL2.3.0.83_A4.2.1.107_Dobson _Communications.exe
* File size: 71.88MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E3F94D95B11DAF

Instructions for installing:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.2 SP2. Download DM Here
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." Don't unplug from the PC & Don't remove the battery unless the spinning hourglass has been there for 30 minutes or more. If the hourglass has been spinning for more than 30 minutes continuously you will need to wipe the device with JL_Cmder (close out of Desktop Manager during this process.) You will then end up with a white screen with small icons and an error code number like 507 or 543.

If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507/543, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

One thing I've noticed so far is that I can't access BBWeather anymore. The program freezes when I launch it and nothing short of a battery pull fixes it.

THANKs and by the way is this the NEWest OS out?

By the way after loading your blackberry.alx everything load fine. Even the themes are working fine but i did get this text 453 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send usuing a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code (long ass code here)

is this something i should be worried about, my phone seems to work fine with all functinalities working fine. Please let me know the reason for gettting this text.

I'm having problems downloading this version. The download always stops at about 3-5 Mb without any errors.
Anyone else seen this?

Thanks! I was going to volunteer to do it this time--guess I need to pay closer attention to the boards.

Wow! This is probably the least number of posts for a OS upgrade ever! Does anyone know what's different about this release compared to the German Vodafone release previously?

He's not any kind of program, Sark. He's a user!
