The Official Rim BB Powerstation is made up of three basic pieces only one of which is unique to the individual model (81xx, 83xx, 88xx). I have three offices and 2 8100 charging stations. I purchased a new 88xx station and the only difference in the model specific cradle part that fits the 2 Pearl chargers once the cradle specific part is snapped off. The 88xx part numbe is HDW-12743-002. ShopBB and Rim were no help. This is environmentally unacceptable. Any solutions or ideas? TIA.

IMO, RIM's early adoption of the USB standard for charging on post 857/957 models puts them ahead of just about every other manufacturer in the business.

I recall using Samsung phones (for example) in which every phone model had its own unique charger. This would necessitate replacing cigarette light adapters for each phone, generating way more cyber-waste.

With Blackberry, I've still got the same cigarette lighter charger that I bought 5 models ago....

Would a Green BlackBerry be a GreenBerry?
