Default 8830 w/6GB Micro DS Card - 10-29-2007, 01:50 PM

I am totally confused. Got a 6gb San Disk Micro SD Card HC, put it in my 8830, it told me I had 5.7 capacity, then I formatted the card in the BB and then it told me I had 1.6gb capacity, I then had to use the Panasonic SD Formatter program to re-format, put it back in the BB and it now shows 5.7 gb capacity, but it was not formatted in the BB? I just don't understand! BTW I am running the newest OS from Verizon in my phone.

I had the exact same thing occur. Looks like it won't be until OS 4.3 before we have support for cards larger than 4GB.

Default SD Capacity - 10-29-2007, 02:17 PM

No, I got the card formatted with the Panasonic SD formatter program and it now reads 5.6gb capacity in the 8830, but the card was not formatted in the BB?

5.7 or 5.6 sounds right for a 6 gig card..(theoretically should be around 5.8)

They measure storage as 1000mb =1 gig.. Computers read it as 1024mb=1 gig. Its kind of misleading but thats how it works.. Same with hard drives, they all have * that states this.
