Default Time one keeps resetting? - 11-06-2007, 01:23 AM

At least once a day the time zone on my phone changes to Eniwetok (-12) time zone. (FYI I am on -7 arizona). I have to go into the options and reset it to -7. My last phone got the time and date from the mobile network.

This seems to have an option in the menu to get the time from the network, but even though I have mine set to the network, it still goes off of the zone that I select. I am on a corperate E-mail server if that makes a difference... I would sure like it to tell me the local time and date from the mobile network.

Any suggestions?
Steve

You might need to talk to your IT department. It sounds like they have a time sync setting that needs to be change on the BES server.

Does the BES server override the network time? is there a way to disable the BES server time?

The BES server is like the god of your phone. If your IT department has it configure like that, then there is no way to override it yourself.

If you didn't say you were on BES, it'd be different but I don't know what to suggest. Do any other users have the same problem, or just you?

On the tiny chance that you meant you get email from your corporate server but didn't mean you were on BES (that is, you get your corporate email forwarded to your BIS), and you sync using Desktop Manager instead of wireless, then try the following:

While connected to Desktop Manager, click the Synchronize button. Uncheck the box that says "Update device's date and time". Then synchronize now.

Again, I realize the OP more or less said he was on BES, just throwing that out there on the slim chance he isn't.

Barring that, if the option in Options -> Date/Time Source is settable to Network/Blackberry/Off, set it to Off instead.

It looks like I am on the BES. As far as I know I am the only user that is having problems. I guess getting the local time from the network isn't that big of an issue...

But what is driving me nuts is the freaking time zone resetting. It did it some time last night, and my alarm that i had set to 7AM didn't go off until 11am.... Right in the middle of a company wide meeting and the phone was on silent....

Anyone have any insite on why this thing keeps resetting the time zone?
