Default My New 8830 - 11-06-2007, 03:16 AM

Just got my new 8830 for FREE! People are buying these things on EBAY for 250-300$. IF you just add a line(9.99) through Sprint, they give you the phone for 100$ w/ a 100$ mail in rebate, so thats way kewl.

Here are my issues so far. I thought the 8830 did WiFi, meaning, I could use it in hotspots and use it at home on my home network. Is this not true?

I called Sprint and wanted to get the service added that allows this(WiFi access) but they said I needed a special phone from NExtel/Sprint? WTF?

Nothing that I've seen beats the 8830 as of yet,(even better then the iPhone) so why does'nt it have WiFi? I have router configs and such in my options and TCP. What would that be for then if not for WiFi?

Can anyone answer me these questiosn please.
Thanks in advance!

The 8830 is not WiFi compatible. Currently there is no BB on sprint or verizon that is WiFi compatible, sorry man.

That's correct, the only 88xx series BB that has WiFi is the 8820, which is a GSM BB (T-Mobile, ATT, Rogers, etc...)

I'm sure they will, but they will disable the wifi because it'll cause "Stability and Security risks for their network"....

You know, that does sound just like what they would say! I ran from them for much the same issues. I was so much happier at Nextel and now even happier with sprint!

does bb 8830 (not curve, just 8830) support stereo headset. I plan to buy motorola stereo headset (s9) and plan to use it for phone/media. will the s9 work with 8830, anyone using it?

So I guess now when you call support instead of getting a person who usually knows less then you and you end up walking them through their own job (like VZW) you just get someone who belittles you instead.
