there is no default password. You will need to enter the wrong password 10 times and then the device will wipe. You'll be able to enter a new password.

If you just bought the phone off ebay, then you don't want the other person's stuff anyway. If you enter the wrong password, as JC said, 10 times then it will wipe the phone back to factory 'out of the box' settings. It will be just like a brand new phone.

Oh wow, I'll edit it later so its legible, for now is their a way that if you mess up 10 times you don't wipe the phone

No, it's a security feature in case someone steals your phone, they can't get your personal information and contacts.

Just a suggestion, but read the FAQ. That will give you a lot of useful info and tips. Plus, it covers many of the problems of buying a used BB from ebay or from anyone/anyplace else. A BB isn't an ordinary cell phone so there are several things to watch out for.

If you backup the phone, wipe it, and then restore it, the password will still be there.

If you are SO drunk that you miss your password 10 times . . . well maybe you do not need to use the phone.

You can't backup the phone without knowing the password.

What would be the point of a password if you could simply bypass it by transferring the data to your computer without entering it?
