Cool Stop email reception, but still use the phone? - 11-09-2007, 05:16 PM

Is it possible to just shut off the email "pushing" yet still have access to the Sprint phone network?
Sometimes I just want to use the phone and not be bothered by emails pouring in, so hopefully there is a simple way to turn this on and off..

What great info I have found on this site so far!

thanks..

thanks!

All data gets turned off. No email, web browsing, maps, IM, etc.
With data services off, you just have a phone and text messaging.

ok, well I just discoverd how to do multiple selecting, so that would help delete lots of emails quickly...
Too bad you loose web browsing and maps when you turn data services off, but I guess thats the trade off!

thanks for your quick response!

I just ignore the messages until I have time to work with them .... My favorite Profile is Phone Only ... That way it doesn't beep at me every time a new email comes in.

I created a custom profile and labeled it "Phone + SMS" for just what it says: phone calls and text messages. For my needs, if someone is texting me, it's just as important to receive as a phone call. E-mails can wait.

I also created a "Pocket Mode" for 3 vibrations when I want to have the phone in my pocket (usually on my weekend).

All in all, I feel like I'm still in an iterative process of figuring out how many vibrations and/or rings in/out of holster, etc. for various situations. It KILLS me that this device can't vibrate and ring at the same time. WTF??? I think this is an example of "planned obsolescence" on RIM's part.
