Default 8830 Ringer Volume Solved!!! (Sort of) - 11-21-2007, 12:21 PM

I called the Verizon tech support guy to complain about the lousy ringer volume and he laughed and asked if I had been to their download site yet this week. He said the latest update from 11/19 adds 6db to the high ringer setting when in the original holster. He's right, and I actually can hear a difference between the high settings when in or out of holster.

My problem is that I hate the standard leather holster and already bought a replacement from Verizon, but it doesn't have the magnet to put the bb into holster/sleep mode, so I still can't get the louder ringer. I'll have to buy one of those rubberized holsters from Seidio with the magnet built in. I wish they would add those decibles to the ringer when out of holster as I like to leave it out of the holster while I'm in my car, which is of course, when I miss most of the calls due to crappy ringer volume...oh well, baby steps I guess. Love the 8830 overall....

I updated yesterday and I can't tell any difference at all in the ringer volume.

You can downgrade. Uninstall .176 from your PC and then follow these instructions (installing OS version .66):
