Default 8820 WiFi on Purdue Airlink - 11-21-2007, 04:01 PM

I am considering purchasing a Blackberry 8820. The main reason I'm interested in this phone is the wifi feature, otherwise I'd probably buy the Curve. I am a student at Purdue University which has blanket wireless coverage. I'm hoping that being within range of a wireless network all the time will eliminate my need for a data plan. My question is will the 8820 connect to Purdue's Airlink network? This website has all the specs. There are walkthroughs on how to set up the connection on an array of devices (except the blackberry) which should be able to explain the specs better than I can. Thank you for your help!

I am also considering an iPhone as well but the Blackberry is ahead so far in that competition. Any thoughts comparing the two would be appreciated as well!

I doubt ATT will sell you the device without the data plan?

I might have to buy a data plan and then I'll cancel after a month. Not really a big deal.
