Default New 8830, no personal email option? BES or nothing? - 11-21-2007, 09:21 PM

i just got my 8830 activated and i wanted to setup my personal email, so I click on "setup wizard" then "email setup" and i only have two options "I want to use a work email account with a BES" and "i want to skip email setup"

Where is the other option to setup a personal account?

I also have no icon on my BB called "email settings" Is their a url i can do too with sprint to setup my BIS?

thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I wonder if you have an IT policy set that prevents personal e-mail accounts.

You can go to http://sprint.blackberry.com/ from your PC to set up a new BIS account with Sprint.

So i setup my account on that website, and nothing shows up on my blackberry, i even told it to resend service books. Any idea what is going on here?

Talk to your BES admin... They probably have it locked out.

dont have a bes admin, this phone is 4 hours old, has never been on a bes or bis.

I think sprint may have not enabled my bb plan.

I suggest you take a look at the FAQ.

To set up your email, the best way is to log onto the Sprint BIS site and do it that way. Much easier to do it on a PC as opposed to the device itself.

How many bars do you have? Do you have Network Mode set to 1XEV? Click menu key and select start provisioning....Must have at least 3 bars in order for it to provision to the Sprint Network.

That's definitely a good thing to check first.

yep, this was it, i ordered the bb plan on the sero site when i ordered the phone, apparently it didn't get turned on. It took them 70 min, and 3 different people to figure out how to add the bb plan w/sero, just finally got off the phone with them, and got an email from blackberry that i should be receiving email in 20 min.

they were initially trying to put me on the 30$ BB plan (didnt know there was one?) and it wouldn't go, so i am on the 39.99 plan now. Initially they told me i would have to leave sero to get bb plan, i shot that down quick.

thanks for your help everyone!
