Default GETTING EMAIL FROM RIM EVERY 26 minutes !!!! - 11-23-2007, 10:39 AM

So I went to the Verizon Website and downloaded the new 4.2.2 software for my 8830. It is described as an update for email functionality. During the download it also "updated" my Desktop Manager with a newer version that included the email redirect function. I did not have this function in my previous version and did not want it to be set up as a redirect.

No sooner did I complete the download I started receiving an email from RIM every 26 minutes. It has been over 24 hours and I continue to get the following email:

This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server.

"network@etp1109.etp.na.blackberry.net" <network@etp1109.etp.na.blackberry.net>

Calling Verizon has been useless. They have had me uninstall the new version of Desktop Manager and download the version with Email redirect but the emails continue to come. Has anyone experienced something similar to this ??

Any advice appreciated.

That is a RIM network message. Not sure why you are constantly getting it. I am sure someone here can provide an answer.

The latest theory from VZW is that the email redirector is on. My version of Desktop Mgr doesn't even include email redirector.

They are forwarding me to RIM now.

I don't think that will get it, since it's originating from the redirector.
Try uninstalling then reinstalling DM, ensuring no redirector is selected.

Tommyticketguy,

Try replying to the latest message with the word STOP. I've gotten redundant system-generated messages from Sprint which stop when I've done that. Sprint's techrep gave me this instruction. Good luck!

Iguess this is one more reason not to use the redirector. It is really flakey!

Some of us have no other choice unfortunately!! I hate it but it get's the job done. As long as you routinely connect the BB to synch and it keeps the encryption key in date it isn't THAT bad. I am thinking about mailconnector for the attachment capability. I was SO happy on OWA BIS before it was no longer an option!

Kudos to Thatzmister2u for hitting this one on the head. The first RIM Tech Support guy I spoke with regarding the problem knew how to fix it in about 45 seconds.

Removal of the Desktop Service Books did the trick.

Glad you got it resolved. Sorry you had to go through the hassel of Carrier support and then RIM support to resolve it.

Thumbs up BIS not Redirector - 11-23-2007, 09:57 PM

Delete the Desktop service books & delete the desktop manager and reinstall it BIS, unless you have your own server that processes the cache files that moves the data.
